Cristina Talks: Alternate House & Cuddy Fanfic

By Cristina Hady

This is my idea for the fanfiction about an alternate House & Cuddy.

I would like to invite people who write fanfiction to join our project.
We can post it in our site, open a thread in the Fox Forum and in PPTH Forum and in other sites, if you have others.

I would like people could enjoy the teamwork and could understand the work behind a succesful TV show as House is. All them are usual to tell a story and all the followers comments. I don't remember to have ever seen a teamwork for a fanfiction. I'm curious to see the result!

I also noticed, sometimes, that very few writers are able to respect the original characters in the dialogues, very often they "exit" out of the character.

After some chapters done, to make people crazy, one day could appear a comment of GY in person (negative or positive, as the situation requires, but constructive for who maybe one day could think to became a writer) and/or some other accredited writers (just an idea!).

After this preamble, before to write the text, I would need to know how things works in the reality (hope you know and can tell me):

- which is the criteria wherewith the epi are assigned to one specific writer?

- Do they receive some guidelines to follow for the single epi (by who?) or they have generic guidelines to follow and write what they want? (I think to remember GY said one day that the writers write and DS choose the one he likes. But I don't remember if he was talking about the guidelines or the single episodes.)

Hope you like the idea and can... "Help me"!

I helped write an "episode" for a stage show once. There was a group of five of us. The producer gave us a general idea of points the plot had to cover, but our way of covering them was up to us. For example, we had to make sure the main character accidently confessed that he was in love with another character. We could make that happen any way we wanted to - one writer chose him accidently sending an e-mail to the wrong person, I chose having him talking in his sleep when she was around, someone else chose him getting drunk and telling her straight out but not remembering the next day.

When we had all written our script outlines we gave a copy to each of the other writers and the producer. We read each other's scripts and highlighted the scenes we especially liked. We then had a script meeting and went through each script mentioning the points we thought were especially worthy. We'd then usually vote on which script had the best storyline and then adapt it to include parts form the other scripts that worked well. On some occasions we re-wrote an entirely new script during these sessions that was a combination of all the scripts put together.

Sometimes we'd find that one script was just perfect without any editing and we'd use that one. After a while we worked out who was best at writing what kinds of scenes, or who was best at keeping a character "in character" and they specialised in those areas of the script.

Hope this helps a little.
